StitchFix Review

So I ordered a StitchFix.

Lindsey did it.  Katrina did it.  I decided to try it.

StitchFix is a fun little service where you fill out an online survey (fun and pretty detailed) and then for $20 you get a box with five items picked for you.  You can then purchase the items (your $20 goes toward your purchase) or send them back in their free return envelope.  It you don't keep anything then they keep your $20, and if you keep all 5, then you get a 25% discount.

The Pros:

  • Fun!  I looked forward to getting my box and ripped into it as soon as I got it!
  • Style profile quiz is sort of fun to do.
  • Easy to try on stuff at home.  You can see what a shirt would look like with your own jeans, skirts, jackets, etc.  Nice!
  • You get a little letter with styling cards suggesting ways to wear things.
The Cons:
  • Some stuff was a little expensive for what it was.  (See below)
  • It took a little while to get my fix...I think they've gotten pretty popular!
So what did I get???  What did I love?  (Okay, excuse the terrible pictures---these are self-photos in my dirty apartment after a long day at work...)

1:  Maddy Ponte Fit and Flare Dress--$78
Love this dress!  It's MAROON---#HailState---and it's the perfect length for work.  Even though it means that Lindsey and I will be twins, I'm totally keeping this dress.  Lindsey, we'll go out in our matching dresses at some point, okay?  I'll totally buy the first round of drinks...

2:  Toshi Contrast Detail Longsleeve Blazer--$88

At first, I was loving the polka dots...

But then I remembered that I have relatively broad shoulders....

And decided that where it hits on my hips was not flattering.  Neither is that face I'm making.  Sending back.

3:  Bristol Solid & Striped Knit Shirt--$68

Again, first thought---like!  Cute design, I like the navy and grey, and it is longer length.

But the neckline was REALLY low and broad, like, showing ALL my chest-which I'm just not comfortable with.  I tried with a tank underneath, but I'm just not willing to pay that much for a tee shirt, especially one that I have to put a tank under.  Returned.

4:  Polly Family of Sparrows Charm Necklace--$28

Meh.  Liked it, did not love it.  Would buy for $12, not for $28.  Returned.

5:  Milo Bird Print Pleated Skirt--$48

No picture.  Unflattering.  Pretty sheer.  Print a bit too whimsical for work.  Returned.

So overall, I only kept one thing, but I really like the dress, so I think it was worth it.  Fun and easy.

If you want to sign up for StitchFix you can use my referral code, and I'll get money off my next one.  Yes, I will do another one, maybe in the Spring.  So help a sister out.
